I have been a fan of OPI nail lacquers for years (“I’m Not Really A Waitress” is my all-time favorite shade of red). And, in addition to the clever polish names for each collection, I am always impressed by the philanthropic work the company does, as well. So I wasn’t surprised when I recently learned that OPI’s founder, president, and CEO, George Schaeffer, recently donated money to fund the construction of the lobby for Cedars-Sinai Medical Center’s Advanced Health Sciences Pavilion, which is slated to open in 2013. Says Schaeffer, “Cedars-Sinai is my neighborhood hospital of choice, and the great doctors and staff have provided wonderful care for me and my family, so this is my way of saying ‘thank you.’ I am convinced of the promise of Cedars-Sinai as a leading force in medicine, and it is a privilege to express my faith in the future through this gift.”
OPI recently introduced its collection of nail colors inspired by the movie “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Strange Tides.” Always innovative, OPI has just announced that it has partnered with the Miss Universe Organization for the launch of its Miss Universe Collection. Available in September, the collection will feature four new glamorous lacquers which will be unveiled at an exclusive Miss USA event on June 14, 2011, in Las Vegas. Miss USA Rima Fakih and Miss Universe Ximena Navarrete, along with pageant contestants, will be on hand at the private event taking place at Color, A Salon by Michael Boychuck at Ceasars Palace Las Vegas. Synonymous with beauty and glitz, the Miss USA event is the perfect setting to spotlight OPI’s new line. “This collection embodies the pageants’ femininity, grace and glamour, with a real sense of fun shown through these shades,” said Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI executive VP & artistic director. “There is no better place to unveil the Miss Universe Collection than in The City of Lights.” The Miss USA Pageant will be presented live on Sunday, June 19, at 9:00 ET on NBC where Weiss-Fischmann will serve as a judge.
Movies have the ability to inspire ideas, emotions, and even fashion trends. This spring, “Pirates of the Caribbean” lovers with a penchant for colorful polish will be loving OPI’s new Brights collection, featuring six limited-edition nail lacquers and a new Silver Shatter coat formula that creates a shimmering two-texture finish. The new collection is being launched in celebration of “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” and was “inspired by a world filled with mythical mermaids, gleaming treasure, and high-seas adventure,” says Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI executive vice president and artistic director. “With shades ranging from sage and lavender to khaki gray and pastel pink, these colors are evocative of a warm, tropical setting, with a classic nautical influence.” The limited-edition shades will be available in spas and salons in May 2011. Shrek Forever After! opens in theaters in May 21. Thanks to OPI, aficionados of the adorable ogre and his animated brood can score nailcare inspiration with the new Shrek Collection. Six limited-edition lacquers merchandised in a specially designed straight-from-the movie display are now available and include:
Funky Dunkey: What could be more fun than this dark purple?
What’s with the Cattitude? A moody light blue that’s really a pussycat.
Rumple’s Wiggin’: And this lavender is “hair” to stay!
Who the Shrek Are You? A brilliant green that stands up for itself.
Ogre-the-Top Blue: The biggest, bestest bright blue ever!
Fiercely Fiona: Don’t mess with this empowered light green.
“OPI is thrilled to join DreamWorks Animation in the final film of this beloved series,” said Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “The Shrek Forever After colors were inspired by characters living in a fantasy world unlike any other fairy tale that is unapologetically vivid, bold, and unique in every sense.”
I’m looking forward to the film and have been looking for a fun green shade for spring—I think Who the Shrek Are You is just the ticket. What are you doing to promote your spa’s nailcare efforts this spring? Comment here and we’ll share your story.
