Every year, I struggle with what to give my mom for Mother’s Day. As she always points out every holiday, “I have everything I need.” Well, for those daughters in the same boat as me, Mii amo has come to the rescue. To celebrate Mother’s Day weekend, this award-winning destination spa in Sedona is hosting a special three-night journey to help women connect with their femininity. From May 5-8, moms and their daughters can partake in Celebrating The Feminine Essence (starting at $2,310 per night) and enjoy a weekend of learning, spa-ing, sharing, storytelling, dancing, and more, all while exploring the powerful nature of being a woman and connecting to their feminine roots. According to Leslee Vogal, one of the leaders of the retreat, “The sacred intention for this weekend is that each woman experiences a more authentic expression of herself, combining her relationships as a daughter and a mother with her own essence.” For a complete schedule of the weekend, click here.

As a hopeless romantic, Valentine’s Day has always been my favorite holiday. And, even though it is still two months away, I think it is never too soon to start planning the perfect way to celebrate being in love. That’s why my heart skipped a beat in excitement when I learned about Mii amo’s Couples: Body and Soul Partners retreat being held at the acclaimed destination spa in Sedona, AZ, Feb. 14th through the 18th. Beyond the clichéd roses and chocolates (neither of which I really enjoy receiving), this four-night journey is designed to help couples deepen their feelings for one another and rekindle the passion in their relationship. Led by Lana Holstein, M.D., and David Taylor, M.D., this exploration of love will include lectures and group meetings helping participants learn new ways to think about important topics such as communication, sex, and intimacy. The retreat, which costs $3,124.80 per person, also includes three meals daily, two 60-minute and two 90-minute spa treatments, and a variety of fitness classes and activities. I can’t imagine a better way to spend my Valentine’s Day.
To honor this year’s summer solstice, which takes place on June 21st, Mii amo (Sedona, AZ) will be offering guests a a week’s worth of activities to celebrate the new season from June 18–24. Inspired by the Native American’s belief that the solstice is a time for reflecting on the seeds planted in the earth and in our souls, the spa has lined up events ranging from Native American drumming to a medicine walk through Boynton Canyon to documentaries on topics such as the return of the buffalo and the bounty of the river’s edge. The spa is even offering a Native American Cooking Demo led by Native American chef Loretta Barrett Oden. It’s a perfect way to ring in the new season and celebrate a time of cleansing, renewal, and growth.
