I am the first to admit that I am not a fan of Las Vegas, but when I visited the Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas last year, I was in heaven. Although the hotel is located in the metropolis known as CityCenter, I felt like I was a million miles away from the chaos from the Strip. From the soothing ambience to the relaxing music to the leisurely check-in at the 23rd-floor sky lobby, this seductive sanctuary is the opposite of what Vegas is known for. And now, international travelers staying at the hotel for five or more nights can relax even more, thanks to the complimentary Jet Lag Recovery Experience offered by the Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas. Starting from the day of arrival, travel-weary guests will be able to unwind and enjoy the spa’s multiple water facilities, including the Vitality Pool, Experience Showers, and Herbal Steam Room. Guests are also invited to join in any of the twice-daily yoga and Pilates classes that take place in a studio overlooking the Strip. And to round out the package, spa-goers are treated to a 60-minute Oriental Essence massage tailored to their personal needs. With all these added perks without any added cost, the journey to Vegas sounds like a great idea, for once.
With all of the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, I must admit I haven’t been really focusing on an upcoming trip I have planned to Vegas mid-January to check out The Spa at Aria in the newly built CityCenter complex. But, with all the excitement surrounding Aria Resort & Casino’s grand opening this evening, I can hardly wait to check it out for myself. The 80,000-square-foot, two-level spa will feature 62 treatment rooms with walls made from soil to preserve an indigenous feel, a full-service salon, a fitness center, a boutique, poolside spa cabanas, and a co-ed spa balcony with an outdoor therapy pool. The spa’s salt meditation room will feature a wall of illuminated salt bricks to help clients with skin irritations and upper respiratory problems, while a second meditation room will feature Japanese stone sauna (“ganbanyoku”) beds with heated black mineral stones that emit negative ions and far-infrared rays. A fire lounge will also be available for relaxation before or following treatments. Much like Sin City itself, everything about The Spa at Aria seems to be over-the-top. Stay tuned for more on the spa after my visit.
It’s a bird….it’s a plane….it’s a guest of the Wynn Las Vegas? Yes, this weekend, guests of the Wynn have the opportunity to fly like Superman with the two-night ZERO-G Spa Experience, thanks to the Zero Gravity Corporation. For $5,746 per person, guests can indulge in either a Custom Massage or a Classic Facial at the luxe Spa at Wynn then float on through to an unforgettable experience in the sky. On Saturday, the ZERO-G flight takes off from McCarran International Airport for a two-hour, zero-gravity flight around the Vegas Valley, which will allow people to feel the sensation of being in outer space. The FAA-approved Boeing 727 is outfitted with padded floors and walls so that guests can “fly” the length of the plane, effortlessly flip like an Olympic gymnast, or even pour water in the air to watch the droplets hover. Video cameras and a world-class photographer will be on board to capture the fun and frolicking. For those who are interested in flying high, they are in for a sublime time.
