It’s that time of year when it seems like everyone has the sniffles or a cold. For a germaphobe like me, something as simple as riding the subway to work is pure torture when I am surrounded by people coughing and sneezing. So when I received a sample of Eufora’s Essential Defense Moisturizing Hand Purifier at work, I immediately tried it out. I always carry around hand sanitizer in my bag, but this one actually makes my hands feel softer and look better while killing 99.9 percent of germs for up to 2 hours. The alcohol-free formula contains aloe and essential oils of curry and cinnamon. Needless to say, this is one product that I will stuffing in the stockings of all my friends and family this holiday season. Perhaps your clients would like to do the same.
While organizing my closet over the weekend, I came across a pair of 4-inch red patent-leather heels I bought on a whim last year. I was so happy to be reunited with them, I couldn’t wait to wear them yesterday. I have to say, I have a very high threshold for pain, and I wear heels all the time (the higher, the better), but by noon, my feet were throbbing, reminding me exactly why those shoes were buried in the back of my closet. The second I got home, I scoured my beauty closet for Weleda’s Foot Balm. Containing myrrh extract to calm the feet, anti-inflammatory ingredients to reduce swelling, and calendula flower extracts to help soften and soothe calluses, this cure-all balm is a staple in my apartment. By this morning, my aching feet were back to normal, just in time for me to slip into some 3-inch boots for the day.
This morning I had the pleasure of meeting Katharine L’Heureux, the founder of Kahina Giving Beauty, a line of organic skincare products based on 100 percent organic argan oil sourced from the women’s cooperatives of Morocco. Not only are her products amazing, but also 25 percent of her company’s profits go to the Berber women of Morocco who hand extract the argan oil using centuries-old techniques passed down the rough generations. The money raised is dedicated to literacy education and women’s rights programs. “These women can’t even write their own names, yet they produce the most amazing product,” says L’Heureux. “It occurred to me that I could help them while creating a skincare line that really works and that women can feel good about buying.”
The line is currently being carried in spas across the country, including International Orange (San Francisco) and various Exhale locations. To find out more about the product line and how Katharine is helping a great cause, click here.
While browsing the internet looking for after-holiday sales, I found out that today is National Chocolate Day! Who knew? So, in celebration, here are two yummy treats I recently discovered.
Philip B.’s Chocolate Milk Gift Set, which includes Milk Body Wash & Bubble Bath and Chocolate Mile Body Crème, contains a blend of chocolate and vanilla extracts that will leave your clients smelling scrumptious.
Carol’s Daughter offers a Sweet Honey Dip Chocolate Brown Sugah Scrub that sloughs off dead skin, leaving behind the delicious aroma of chocolate and honey laced with sweet vanilla bean.
These, of course, are just two of many products that come to mind, but there are many more out there, and chances are you probably sell some in your retail area or offer chocolate-inspired treatments in your spa to help your clients indulge in a delicious treat without the guilt. If so, we would love to hear about it. Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Freshly baked Christmas cookies: check.
Holiday cards hanging from the mantle of my fireplace: check.
Views of a record NYC snowfall outside of my windows: check.
Yes, I’m heading down the right path, but, unfortunately, the holiday ambience stops there. I would love to have a Christmas tree, but there’s just no room in my apartment. I mean, there is really no room—at one point while moving into my tiny studio, I thought that I was going to have to choose between my bed and my couch. (Thanks to some stealthy space-saving friends, I was able to keep both.)
In any case, my saving grace this winter season has been Zents Holiday Candles. These non-toxic, 100 percent vegetable- and soy-wax candles emit the most subtle scents that put me in a holiday state of mind. Even the product descriptions on the website give you a warm, fuzzy feeling—i.e. City Sidewalks, my favorite candle, is supposed to remind you of “luscious fruit-filled cakes [that] sweeten the air as ice skaters clasp mitten-covered hands; berries adorn festive windowsills, while inside bubbling champagne glasses are raised to toast new and old friends.” Sure, without a tree, my apartment may not look like the mecca of merriment, but, with the festive fragrance of Zents, it feels like it is.
