Any spa treatment that contains the word ‘mojito’ is sure to peak my interest. It’s such a refreshing summer drink, so I understand why its ingredients would be the inspiration for the perfect seasonal body scrub and there is no better place to experience it than in Miami. This summer, the Mayfair Hotel and Spa in Coconut Grove, FL, is offering the Miami Mojito Body Wrap ($150, 60 minutes), the ultimate experience for relaxation after a day in the hot Miami sun. Exclusively at the Mayfair’s Jurlique Spa, the body wrap includes a perfect blend of sugar and mint to exfoliate and nourish the skin while stimulating the senses. After the treatment, guests are invited to head up to the breathtaking rooftop pool and lounge for a complimentary Mojito cocktail. Call (800) 433-4555 to book your appointment and mention the code MOJITO to receive this special rate limited to July and August.
I’ve only been to Cabo once. It was while on a cruise with my dad. Unfortunately, our time there was limited to a single afternoon spent drinking on a pirate ship and snorkeling in the surrounding waters. Someday soon, I hope to return to the popular destination. Other spa-loving travelers might start packing their bags even sooner thanks to the Spa Experience: Peace of Mind Package ($550 per night) at Villa Del Arco. Valid until Dec. 19, the package includes four nights in a one-bedroom ocean view suite, six spa services, a welcome bottle of wine, one romantic bath complete with flowers and aromatic candles, daily spa turn-down service, a handmade beach bag, L’Occitane amenities, daily yoga classes and complimentary use of the Desert Spa facilities, daily breakfast, and more. It’s the perfect way to experience the 31,000-square-foot spa, the largest in Baja California.
My best friend, who is currently 4 months pregnant with her second child, is constantly talking about how rundown and achy she feels this time around. My suggestion to her? Take a mini-getaway to The Spa at The Inn at Bay Harbor in Michigan and indulge in one of its five newly introduced services for moms-to-be. Using products from Mama Mio, expectant women can choose from:
• Yummy Tummy – An omega-rich facial for the tummy that maximizes skin strength, health, and elasticity of the abdomen and includes an upper back, neck, and head massage
• Lighten Up – A mineral-rich foot soak, exfoliation, and massage for the lower legs and feet to help with poor circulation, water retention, and the tiring affects of carrying a baby.
• Mellow Mama – Full body massage using effective pre-natal techniques and omega-rich oils to relieve lower back muscles and pain
• The Smoothie – Rejuvenates and exfoliates skin gently and effectively using Mama Mio’s most moisturizing massage cream to hydrate and elasticize skin and finishes with a soothing scalp massage
• 4th Trimester Healing Hour – A restorative massage that helps the body realign with being one again.
These treatments are sure to relax Mom’s mind until her little bundle of joy arrives. (Plus, after receiving one of these services, I won’t have to listen to my friend complain anymore.)
Years ago, I visited the Loews Coronado Bay Resort (CA) on a spa trip with one of my best friends. While there, we took an introductory surfing lesson and found ourselves instantly hooked. It wasn’t long before we had planned a surf trip to El Salvadore, where we promptly found ourselves in over our heads. Although we weren’t quite ready for El Salvadore’s waves, it didn’t diminish our love of the sport. A few years later, I talked my dad into going surfing with me while visiting the Ancient Cedars Spa at The Wickaninnish Inn (Tofino, Canada). For me, spas and surfing have always been a natural fit, and it appears that the folks at The Atlantic Resort & Spa (Fort Lauderdale, FL) would agree. The ocean-inspired Spa Atlantic is making waves with its Surf Goddess package, a two-to-four-day bespoke program that offers surf lessons from Hang Loose Surf School, healthy cuisine, rejuvenating spa treatments, and luxurious accommodations. This is one package I’d dive into headfirst.
The summer treatments on the menu at the Nidah Spa at the Eldorado Hotel and Spa (Santa Fe, NM) have me dreaming of hopping on the next flight to New Mexico. To celebrate the arrival of summer and help guests rejuvenate and relax, the spa is offering three unique treatments, including Prickly Pear Pedicure ($75) to heal tired and dry feet using such ingredients as bliss prickly pear aloe and yucca root. Also on the menu is the soothing Desert Aloe Soothing Gel Body Wrap ($130) that is sure to leave skin glowing and refreshed, and the Turquoise Sage Organic Facial ($130), which hydrates, exfoliates, and cleanses skin, leaving it feeling silky and soft. At the Eldorado Hotel and Spa guests can enjoy the perfect getaway and indulge in treatments that truly capture the magic of the southwest.
This summer, Sandals Resorts International is helping couples, friends, and groups enjoy a fabulous vacation without breaking the bank. As part of the limited-time Companion Flies Free promotion, the resorts will cover the base fare of a companion air ticket for guests who book an air-inclusive, six-night-minimum stay at Sandals Resorts or Beaches Resorts between June 30 and July 31. “There are multiple fees and rising costs associated with nearly every aspect of flying today,” says Kevin Froemming, president of Unique Vacations Inc., the worldwide representatives for Sandals Resorts and Beaches Resorts. “Couples and families save hard-earned money for their yearly vacation, and we don’t believe they should have to give that up because of fluctuating gas prices. Through Sandals Resorts’ exclusive offer, there is no need to put vacation plans on hold.” My suggestion? Guests should take the money they save on flights and use it for a day of pampering at the spa!
Having stayed at the Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain (Scottsdale, AZ), I can say firsthand that it truly is a desert oasis. The food at Elements, the resort’s award-winning restaurant was delicious, the spa treatments were heavenly, and the pina coladas by the infinity pool were amazing. Now, the resort is offering one lucky winner plus seven friends the chance to escape via a fabulous Facebook contest. Contestants can just click the “Like” button on Sanctuary’s Facebook page to be automatically entered to win a stay valued at $15,500. By engaging with Sanctuary through Facebook and Twitter, up to three additional entries per person are possible. The lucky winner and one guest will enjoy red carpet treatment and a celebrity-like arrival with air travel provided by the resort. Upon checking in, the winner can meet with his or her guests to experience the one-of-a- kind VIP private estate homes. There, they will enjoy two nights of luxury, pampering, and service with amenities such as private pools, game rooms, and outdoor fire pits. To top it all of Sanctuary will arrange a trip to the market with the resort’s famed chef and Food Network Star, Beau MacMillan, and dinner in a private dining room at Elements restaurant, where they can experience a personal visit to the kitchen. This once in a lifetime trip is just a click of a button away. The contest is running from through July 4, with the winner being announced soon after. The trip must be redeemed by December 31.
Although I am usually a beachy-type of girl, I have a special place in my heart for Santa Fe, NM. There is something about the rich culture mixed with the fresh desert air that gives me a sense of serenity. One of my favorite times to visit this Southwestern gem of a city is in the summer, and now Nidah Spa at the renowned Eldorado Hotel & Spa gives me one more reason to head to the desert. Available this July, Nidah Spa is celebrating the arrival of Summer Solstice with the introduction of these three sensational summer experiences featuring products from Body Bliss:
• Prickly Pear Pedicure: This treatment uses the healing power of aloe to help revitalize tired feet using Prickly Pear Aloe and Yucca
• Desert Aloe Soothing Gel Body Wrap: Clients are comfortably wrapped up in cucumber, lavender, and seabuckthorn berry extracts, the combination of which both cools and heals the skin, before being slathered with a Desert Dew moisturizer made of cedar, rosewood, lavender, and desert chaparral for a fresh glow
• Turquoise Sage Organic Facial: This facial gently exfoliates the skin with a AHA cream cleanser and Wild Pumpkin Mask and hydrates with Wild Carrot and Turquoise Sage Hydro Silk
