I have a new obsession with CND nail Shellac. The nail polish lasts for almost two weeks without chipping, and when I look at my manicured fingertips, I am so thrilled with how shiny my nails are. To top it off, no matter what my mood, CND always offers a nail color that will satisfy me. Now the company is expanding its color line even further with the launch of six new shades in September: Zillionaire, a dazzling multi-colored effect that can be layered over any color; Studio White a semi-sheer soft white; Moonlight & Roses, an opalescent pink; Purple Purple, an iridescent azure violet; Asphalt, a concrete grey; and Hotski to Tchotchke, a vibrant teal. “CND Shellac manicures and pedicures are an affordable way to thrill yourself, and you’ve got ten opportunities at your fingertips to make a new style statement for fall,” says co-founder and style director Jan Arnold. With a total of 30 shades, CND Shellac is sure to keep every client happy no matter what their taste.
Having spent more than a decade working in publishing, I’ve acquired a fair number of writer friends who often give me a sneak peak at their works in progress. Now, thanks to a new program at Las Ventanas al Paraiso, A Rosewood Resort in Los Cabos, Mexico, guests can get their hands on advance copies of novels by best-selling authors. The “Hot Type” program is made possible through an exclusive arrangement with top publishing houses. Between six weeks to six months from being released for sale, the Hot Type books can be read poolside, the perfect way to relax after a treatment at The Spa at Las Ventanas. The following advance novels are currently available:
The Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh
Becoming Marie Antoinette by Juliet Grey
The Autobiography of Mrs. Tom Thumb by Melanie Benjamin
The Stranger You Seek by Amanda Kyle Williams
A Year and Six Seconds by Isabel Gillies
In Bed with a Highlander by Maya Banks

I will admit it. I’m a bit of a reality TV junkie. I live for “Top Chef,” I secretly can’t get enough of “The Real Housewives,” I’m oddly enthralled by “Millionaire Matchmaker,” and I even partake in some “Jersey Shore” from time to time. So I was excited when I received some info about a reality show based in the beauty biz. Airing on the TV Guide Network next month, “Nail Files” takes viewers inside the upscale, unpredictable life of business owner Katie Cazorla. Born and raised in upstate New York, Katie is now living the glamorous life in Hollywood, where she’s has successfully launched The Painted Nail, a high-end nail salon. Her salon has become an overnight success, and she plans to franchise the business. The series follows Katie as she juggles running her salon while maintaining fabulous personal life. It already sounds like yet another reality show I won’t want to miss.
It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of gel manicures. I’m hard on my hands, and I love any opportunity to receive a manicure that will actually last longer than two days. So I’m excited to tell you about the new gel on the block—Orly Gel FX. This gel manicure system from Orly will debut this July, but I was able to get a sneak peek yesterday during a meeting in my office with the Orly team. Here’s the scoop: The new Gel FX Manicure System promises a two-week chip-free manicure, thanks to a process that involves a gel application, a curing of the manicure using LED light, and an easy removal that involves a nail wrap, not a soak in acetone. Plus, there are 32 colors available that match Orly’s current top sellers, so clients can get a gel mani and a regular pedi, or visa versa, if they so choose. The system will debut at COSMOPROF North America, which takes place July 31 to August 2 in Las Vegas. I can’t wait to try it! Visit www.orlybeauty.com for more information.

With the start of summer, I seem to discover a new-found appreciation for working out. However, the last place I want to be is inside at the gym. This is despite the fact that I’ve always been a class-junkie and have even gone so far as to request rescheduling an editorial meeting so as not to miss my favorite boot camp class. Now, thanks to Well+GoodNYC’s new Summer Wellness Guide, I know where to go to find the best outdoor yoga events, complimentary outdoor fitness classes, outdoor boot camps, summer skincare staples, and more. If you’re in the NYC area or plan to be this summer, check out the guide for some of the great events that make New York City so appealing for wellness enthusiasts.
As a frequent traveler, I stay in a lot of hotels and am always curious as to what amenities I’ll find in the the rooms. Having written on the topic, I know how important it is to find the right fit, as the products chosen can speak volumes about the hotel brand itself. On occasion, I’m even asked to suggest potential product lines for new properties. Exclusivity is almost always a key consideration. It certainly was for Hilton Hotels & Resorts, which recently announced that it will be featuring a new bath amenity collection made up of six new products by Peter Thomas Roth. The line of hair and body products include the global introduction of Peter Thomas Roth’s Mega-Rich Shampoo, Conditioner, Body Wash, and Body Lotion. Guests will also be able to enjoy a Moisture Infusion Facial Bar and a Massaging Bath Bar. Available in approximately 300 Hilton properties in the Americas, the products will be rolled out in more than 540 Hilton Hotels in 76 countries by December 2011. “I am delighted that my products will be featured in Hilton Hotels & Resorts, the world’s most recognized hotel brand,” says CEO and founder Peter Thomas Roth. “As someone who travels frequently for business and pleasure, I know what a difference it makes to have products that help you to feel and look your best when you’re away from home.” What hotel amenities have caught your eye and made you feel your best while on the road?
Feet can certainly take a beating when they’re subjected to ill-fitting shoes, high heels, and everyday wear and tear. Fortunately, the folks at Canyon Ranch and foot expert, Glenn Copeland, D.P.M., are on the case with the recent introduction of Canyon Ranch Healthy Feet at Canyon Ranch SpaClub in The Venetian (Las Vegas). The center provides therapeutic services to relieve discomfort caused in the feet and lower legs. Biomechanics specialists and massage therapists are trained to address and treat foot issues with a variety of techniques and products. Those suffering from chronic issues, such as shin splints or strain, will find the center especially helpful with services like All-Star Treatment for Athletes, Healthy in Heels, Foot Doctor Express, and Instant Relief. I’m actually interested in having my gait analyzed by a trained clinician to assess any issues due to bad posture, body mechanics, and my choice of footwear. It might just be enough to persuade me to forego fashion for function. Then again, I wouldn’t be so sure…
