Virginia’s Tides Inn Offers Spa-Goers a Sea Change

Beach bums will love the recently unveiled ocean-inspired spa treatments at The Spa at the Tides Inn. Incorporating marine-loving OSEA products, these two seaweed-rich services bring the skin-saving benefits of the Deep Blue to the spa.

•To get clients in the mood, therapists ask clients to visualize themselves floating in the ocean when kicking off the Tides of Change Signature Massage and Body Treatment ($120, 60 minutes; $160, 90 minutes). Enhanced by a soundtrack featuring the soothing sounds of the sea, the offering was designed to refresh and invigorate guests as they are polished and massaged with mineral-rich products that leave skin nourished.

•An in-depth skin analysis starts off the Tides of Change Signature Facial ($120, 60 minutes; $160, 90 minutes) to determine any causes of imbalance. High-tech marine-based serums are combined with a pure plant mineral oxygen infusion, an algae skin tightener, and mineral enzymes to help stimulate cellular metabolism and relax stress lines. Not only will this treatment help diminish hyperpigmentation, but it will also help diminish the signs of weather, travel, or stress.

Escape From the City with Hilton’s New Spa Merge

Although there is no shortage of spas in Manhattan, I always enjoy discovering new ones that add to the city’s variety. Recently, I had the opportunity to experience a treatment at Spa Merge, part of West 57th Street by Hilton Club, New York City’s first ground-up shared ownership property. Fortunately, for me and other locals, this urban oasis isn’t reserved strictly for owners. Instead, the ground-level spa invites those passing by on 57th St. to escape the city’s hustle and bustle and enjoy the spa’s soothing environment. It was certainly a welcome escape for me. Heading back to the office after experiencing the spa’s exclusive Fusion Massage ($120, 60 minutes; $180, 90 minutes) was a bit more challenging. Look for more on Spa Merge in an upcoming issue.

BareEase Helps Clients Banish Bikini Wax Pain

Summer is rapidly approaching, which means that your bikini waxing books will soon start filling up, and your clients are starting to dread their agonizing upcoming waxing appointments. Anesthesiologist Dr. Edna Ma, M.D., has found a way to make a painful procedure much less worrisome with BareEase & Cream, a pain-relieving hair removal prep kit. The BareEase & Cream kit includes a numbing cream and a latex panty that acts as an occlusive dressing to isolate the cream for better and more effective absorption pre-wax.  This innovative combination of garment and medication is designed to make hair removal treatment an ouchless, safe, and convenient experience. something that is certain to garner loyalty from your thankful waxing customers.

Here are some other tips from Dr. Ma for you to pass along to your clients to help them ease the burn of bikini waxing:

  • If you are not allergic to acetaminophin (Tylenol) or ibuprofen (ADVIL), take these about one to two hours prior to your treatment. These medications take longer to take effect, but decrease inflammation and pain for hours.
  • Plan your bikini hair removal after your period.
  • Trim the hair prior to waxing. For the procedure, keep the hair to ¼- ½ inch, this is the ideal length. If the hair is too long, it will be more painful. But if the hair is too short, the wax will not stick.
  • Relax and breathe. Take a deep breath when the wax is applied, and exhale when she tugs off the strip.

The BareEase & Cream Prep Kit for Ouchless Hair Removal kit is available now at www.bareease.com. Learn more about it IECSC Las Vegas, April 24-26 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, at Booth # 1768.
