The ocean is full of mystery and power, enticing visitors to beaches for relaxation and water sports. But some are unaware of its fragility and the importance of maintaining the underwater ecosystem. To help advance this knowledge, Six Senses Resort & Spa Laamu in the Maldives is hosting its first annual Watermen event to pay homage to the natural wonders of the ocean. From Sept. 30–Oct. 4, resort guests will get the opportunity to meet, learn, and play with world-renowned surfers, windsurfers, kite surfers, divers, and conservationists in support of global water conservation. The conservationists will hold in-depth debates and discussions regarding all issues related to marine life and drinking water, while the athletes will offer fun-filled and challenging clinics. Packages are available for four nights ($6,000 for 2 and $4,400 for a single) and seven nights ($9,900 for 2 and $7,400 for a single) and include luxury accommodations, a gourmet breakfast and dinner daily and a barefoot gala dinner, a number of clinics and spa treatments, roundtrip seaplane transfers flights, a marine restoration in the Maldives workshop with Fabien Cousteau, beach clean up and coral reef restorations, a mural painting workshop, and movies under the stars featuring environmental documentaries. Proceeds from the event will be donated to Blue Marine Foundation, Plant A Fish, and Water Charity, three organizations that work to maintain, restore, and raise global awareness about the marine environment.
