Perhaps he is best known for dressing Michelle Obama (who can forget that gorgeous white gown she wore to the inaugural ball?), but Jason Wu has been on the fashion scene for years. A former Narciso Rodriguez intern, Wu launched his eponymous line in 2006 and quickly developed a celebrity following. Now, Wu is partnering up with CND to introduce a limited edition collection of nail colors honoring iconic women. The line will include Miss Wu, a warm gray; Brigitte, a pink shade; Sophia, a mushroom taupe; and Anna Effect, which is to be layered over any of the other colors to add texture. “Every season I play with different ways of using color in my collection, so it was a natural choice to collaborate with CND on a capsule of nail colors that reflects my aesthetics,” says Wu. The limited edition Jason Wu Collection will be available in May 2011, but we bet Michelle Obama can probably get her hands on it sooner than that!
MT Industries has announced that is set to become Sunless Inc., paving the way for the future of sunless tanning. MT Industries was formed in 2009 as a collaborative venture with Mystic Tan, a pioneer in professional sunless spray tans and VersaSpa an innovator in professional skincare and sunless tanning. And executives for the company say more exciting news is in the pipeline, although they haven’t revealed it just yet. Says Sunless Inc.’s CEO Scott Thomason, “Our next evolution in sunless tanning will provide unparalleled benefits to salons and consumers. The buzz is building already, even though the launch isn’t planned for a few months.”
I’m signing in from Pasadena, CA, where I’m attending Spatec Fall. Once again, this event is proving to be a wonderful experience full of great education, excellent one-on-one meetings, fabulous networking opportunities, and a lot of fun. The event kicked off with a presentation from keynote speaker Pete Cohen, a British TV personality and life coach who helps people work to change their behavior. He shared tips, strategies, and more to help us all boost our levels of happiness. Along with making day-to-day life more enjoyable, it’s also a great way to create an enticing spa journey for guests and help staff stay motivated. The event continued with one-on-one meetings and a showcase where vendors displayed their latest and greatest. (This fall is going to be chock-full of exciting new launches, so do stay tuned both here and on the pages of American Spa for more). Finally, we concluded with the Spatec Olympic Games that occurred on the lawn of the lovely Langham Huntington Hotel and Spa, where Spatec is taking place. Above right, enjoy this photo of my amazing team—the brown team—winners of the bronze medal, as well as some silly shots of the rest of the games. Day three is about to kick off, so I’m heading back, but check back often for more photos, news, and more from Spatec Fall.
