While The Ritz-Carlton has gained acclaim for its Club Level, a high-end option that includes luxe accommodations and amenities like daily complimentary food and beverage presentations, The Ritz-Carlton, Buckhead has taken this option to spa-inspired heights with its Spa Level. Last weekend, while attending my cousin’s wedding with my mom, I got a chance to see it for myself. This option is ideal for spa-lovers. Each of the rooms, which are located on the spa floor and include in-room dining menus featuring options like salads, smoothies, and house-made sorbets. Additionally, the rooms include special amenities as:
- Complimentary selection of fruit-infused waters and mixed nuts and dried fruit snacks
- Tempur-Pedic® mattress and pillows
- Eco-friendly, microfiber bed linens with extra-fine weave for maximum softness
- Oversized 100-percent Turkish cotton bath towels
- Spa bathrobes and Okabashi spa slippers
- A dreamtime sleep mask
- Yoga mats, an exercise ball, and bands
- DVDs and books covering Pilates, yoga, and meditation themes
- An air purifier and a sound machine
- Kerstin Florian spa bath amenities packaged so guests may take them home
These rooms are also located in close proximity to the lovely three-treatment-room spa, where my mom and I enjoyed spa services, including the Muscle Ease Hot Stone Massage ($149, 60 minutes) for her and the Lavender Dreams ($209, 90 minutes) for me, which includes a body scrub, a lotion application, a warm wrap, and a scalp and foot massage surrounded by fragrant, calming lavender.
Indeed, it was the perfect pre-wedding relaxation experience (Here, we are pictured on our way to the wedding). Stay tuned for more about the hotel’s Spa Level and the spa in an upcoming edition of American Spa.
A few years ago, I had the pleasure of staying at the Fairmont Turnberry Isle in Miami, which I thoroughly enjoyed. In addition to lounging poolside, shopping at the nearby Aventura Mall (the hotel provides free shuttle service to and from the mall, making it nearly impossible not to shop), and the gorgeous accommodations, I was thrilled to visit the Willow Stream Spa. In between the amazing treatments I received, I relaxed at the spa café on the second floor, where I dined on the spa’s signature Bento Box Lunch. This divine meal included tropical fruits and other local tastes, and I remember thinking it was one of the best spas meals I have eaten.
Now, thanks to a special spring promotion, spa-goers at any Willow Stream Spa can enjoy a Bento Box Lunch on the house when they book a 90-minute spa treatment. During the months of May and June, clients simply have to ask about the spa’s special spring free offers and they will not only be pampered like a princess but they will also be eating like a king.
A year ago, I had the opportunity to toast the opening of Laser Cosmetica (New York City), a medical spa that offers a host of laser technologies and treatments, such as chemical peels, microdermabrasion, skin tightening, and more. Not surprisingly, it wasn’t the best economic climate in which to open. However, I recently got the chance to revisit the flagship clinic, located 18 W. 23rd St., and raise another glass to its success at an event marking its one-year anniversary. With nine locations in three states, the brand continues to grow. For more on spas that are thriving in tough times, check out our newly launched Success Stories column in the May issue.
