Christie & Co. Salon and Spa (Bayside, NY) hosted an event featuring Lydia Sarfati, CEO and founder of Repêchage. Guests enjoyed special discounts on services and mini-makeovers, and they were offered a complimentary skin consultation with Sarfati with the purchase of either the Express Facial, Repêchage Eye Contour Treatment, or the Repêchage Rejuvenating Seaweed Treatment Mask.
In the last year, New York City has seen an influx of hot new hotel spas. Last March, American Spa covered the debut of Caudalie Vinotherapie Spa at The Plaza, Guerlain Spa at The Waldorf=Astoria, The Peninsula Spa by ESPA at the Peninsula New York, and Sense, A Rosewood Spa at The Carlyle.
This month, the trend of hip hotel spas continues with the opening of The Spa at The Surrey, a luxury hotel on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. The hotel itself is gorgeous retreat reminiscent of classic New York City glamour, and the spa is a stunning and elegant extension. “The Spa at the Surrey is intended to be like no other place,” Lauren Rottet, the spa’s interior designer, told me when I interviewed her about the spa. “It’s as if you have slipped back into time to a Golden Age.”
I got a chance to visit the 2,500-square-foot, five-treatment-room spa last week, and I have to concur. The elegant interior is filled with sleek grey walls, sparkling chandeliers, and mirrored accents. The spa menu is equally enticing. I sampled the Rose & Pomegranate Age Reversal Facial, which was created exclusively for the spa by Darphin Paris, as well as the Kodo Massage. Using Li’Tya products from Australia, the massage was inspired by the techniques of the Aborigines to help realign the body’s energy. Both treatments were amazing, and I left the spa with a notebook full of ideas for our upcoming feature, which will be running in the March issue.
In the meantime, I leave you with the words of spa director Cheryl Jacobs, who says, “Our clients have been blown away by the discreet atmosphere that exists at the spa. There is no other spa in New York City like it. With our signature product lines and unique design, it is a true find.”
