If you’ve noticed a sharp increase in spa appointments for Tuesday, you can thank PrettyCity.com, an online resource for all-things beauty. The site declared this Tuesday, Aug. 4, National Pampering Day, encouraging consumers to call off work and get pampered. Spas, salons, and medical spas across the country are taking part in this “holiday” by offering significant savings to make pampering possible for anyone wishing to indulge in spa treatments. “Neglecting yourself is a mistake no one can afford to make, especially when other investments have proven far less sound,” says Carolyn Brundage, chief executive officer and founder of PrettyCity.com. “It’s so easy to let the craziness of the world make us forget about taking the time to just be good to ourselves.”

The circle of life has found sanctuary in Osmosis Day Spa (Freestone, CA), a haven of eco-focused healing. Fusing green with grey, the spa has added to its earthy appeal by using its gently-used greywater (water that flows down the drains of sinks, showers, and washing machines) to cultivate its gardens, the first of its kind in Sonoma County. Says Osmosis founder Michael Stusser, “Re-using our greywater for irrigation reconnects spa guests and staff and the gardens to the natural water cycle.” Since the program was instituted, nearly 1,000 gallons of water are reused every day. Way to go grey, Osmosis!
