Working Out Fitness Options at the Spa

Breaking a sweat at the spa is no longer relegated to the sauna and steam room. Fitness is getting fun at spas and guests are signing up for everything from Wii-guided yoga sessions to beachfront boot camps. Here are a few of our favorite packages that are helping clients achieve healthy minds, bodies, and spirits.

•Escape to Shape at The Tides Zihuatanejo (Mexico): In addition to a Restoring Massage, this six-night package invites guests to burn calories with surf lessons, sea kayaking, beach power walks, Vinyasa yoga, and Pilates-based body sculpting classes. For a true taste of Mexico, it also includes cooking lessons, and tequila and ceviche tastings.

•Wellness in Paradise at One & Only Ocean Club (Paradise Island, Bahamas): Guests can enjoy a five-night getaway, which includes a personal training session featuring Technogym technology, daily yoga, and a one-on-one tennis clinic with a resident pro. The Rituals of Touch ceremony offers them some quiet time with a 140-minute Swedish massage for two in a private spa villa.

    What a wonderful synergy between two industries! The fitness and spa industries! We have been quite successful with Tonic Day Spa nestled quietly inside Hampton Hill Athletic Club. Located approximately 5 miles from HHAC is h2 Women. A combinaton of a salon, spa and fitness center. (The fitness center is for women only and is located upstairs.) The website for h2 is

    In combining all aspects of “wellness” we hosted our very own “The Biggest Loser” weight loss competition. All the contestants (44) were not only put on strict but motivating exercise regimens but were also rewarded with salon and spa treatments such as hair services, massages and facials! The winner of the competition, Cindy Reese, not only won many prizes but also a complete makeover from the salon and spa! See Hampton Hill’s front page on the website for her before and after photos! And by the way, the total weighloss for the group was a whopping 966 pounds!
